22 weeks pregnant

*22 weeks pregnant**

Today I am 22 weeks pregnant. After the initial relief of the 20 week scan, the anxiety is starting to creep in again. I’m feeling lost without anymore scheduled scans for the rest of this pregnancy and thinking about booking private.

I’m feeling really good generally though. Although tired, I can actually make it through the days without a compulsory nap now. Movements are frequent and never feel less magical. Heartburn and acid reflux is getting really bad and gavsicon bottles are dotted around the house to help settle that! I’m not sleeping well, just very restless and up early every day, but watching plenty of Netflix films in peace.

We are currently down for a home birth so I am starting to focus on getting the house ready, organised and decluttered!

Otis has started showing more interest in bump this week and says “hello” and waves at baby as well as stroking my bump. I’m longing for the day he can feel the kicks himself and bond even more with this journey.

*Little Wild One* 🐾

“Dear Littlest Pea,

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about what type of personality you will have. I’ve been told by so many people that because Otis is so calm in nature, you’re likely to be more of a handful… I don’t know how much truth there is in this theory, but I’m ready for the challenge! 🙊 I can’t wait to see you grow and develop that little (or big!) personality. I already know you’re going to bring so much excitement and happiness to all our lives. Will you be our little wild one? Will you be a free spirit who is fearless? Will you have an imagination that isn’t held back by rules? However you decide to be, I know that our lives will be totally and utterly enriched by you and I can’t wait to see Otis be there for you, as your big brother!

Lots of love,

Mummy x”

Vatos toys

This fab bulldozer toy was kindly gifted to Otis by @vatostoys ❤️ this is a “build your own” toy and Otis loved playing with the tools to try and put it together, take it apart and then put it together again! This makes it great for hand-eye coordination as well as distinguishing between different shapes. Once it was built he then got to enjoy the sounds and music it plays as well as the bits that light up. I could see he felt so proud of himself once he had finished building it and then he could enjoy it as a push along toy too 😊 I would absolutely recommend this toy to any little boy or girl who loves building things!

Who else has a “DIGGER!” obsessed toddler?? 🙈 honestly Otis gets so excited if we drive past one! That’s how I knew Otis would love this amazing set that was very kindly #gifted to him by @gostock_toys 💛

He was in his element today as he played in the sandpit at our local country park. He enjoyed pushing them about in the sand and also making them dig for sand and then emptying them into his bucket. Each vehicle has different parts that move so he can interact with them and don’t worry Mums, the vehicles each have the different names on them too; bulldozer, Road roller, forklift, excavator, cement mixer and dump truck!

Due to the bits that move they are great for teaching Otis about the different roles each vehicle plays and he can learn which ones lift, haul and move things. Due to the small size they are great for small hands and helping Otis to practice his fine motor skills too. I would definitely recommend these to any child with a passion for construction vehicles!

Scrunch

We had such a lush beach day today, just the 3 (and a half) of us!

We are super lucky that @funkitworld #gifted Otis this awesome Scrunch Bucket and it’s safe to say that he LOVED it on the beach today. He used it to carry his toys about, fetch water from the sea, filled it with sand and even used it as a drum at one point!

I fell in love with the bright yellow colour as soon as I opened the package, but also the softness of it. I love what @funkitworld stand for: helping our environment. These buckets are recyclable and reusable. They are made from silicone so don’t crack like plastic ones tend to. They are so easy to carry because you can just scrunch them up and fold them in your bag.

Today we had our 3rd scan…

22nd August 2019

*Today we had our third scan*

“Dear Littlest Pea,

Today we got to see you on a screen for the third time. I was so nervous about our scan today. It was the big one and I knew they’d be checking everything to make sure you are growing well. We went through the tiny areas of your cute little body one by one: your brain, your face, your heart, your stomach, your kidneys, your spine. We looked away during the search for your bladder as we want your gender to be a surprise when you are born, but we turned back in time to see you stretch those little legs and see your adorable little feet. Hannah, the lady doing the ultrasound referred to you as “gorgeous little thing” and I know she’s right, you are perfect. I couldn’t help but giggle as you stretched your legs up high into my uterus wall above your tummy and moving your hands from your head to in front of your face. I even got to see you practice swallowing and Hannah said it must be thirsty work having your scan taken 😊

I cried happy tears knowing you are doing great and that we are already over halfway on our journey to meeting each other properly for the first time.

You really are going to be a new little sunshine in all of our lives ☀️

I love you so much,

From Mummy xx”
