🧪 Scientist Otis šŸ‘ØšŸ¼ā€šŸ”¬

This afternoon Otis had a really long nap so I wanted to set something up for him for when he woke up as I knew he would be full of energy.

This science lab set arrived this morning from @amazon (@i_love_freebie) and was a huge hit as soon as it arrived. The box says age 6+, but with supervision Otis has been able to have lots of fun with it.

I know he loves water play so I set up the test tubes with water and different food colourings in them so he could mix them and learn about colour changing. He loved using the pipettes to collect and move water to different jars.

Otis also used the funnels when pouring the water into the beaker and then took a closer look at the liquid by using his magnifying glass.

The kit comes with a science manual which gives you lots of ideas and instructions for science experiments. Otis is too small for these yet, but has loved getting used to the equipment and dressing up!

I think we will have lots of fun with this set for many years. I will put the link in my bio in case you fancy getting one to stash for Christmas!

Feeling your kicks

šŸ¦¶šŸ¼Thurs 10th Oct: Today Daddy felt you kick for the first time

šŸ¦¶šŸ¼Sat 12th Oct: Today Otis felt you kick for the first time

Dear Littlest Pea,

At 27 weeks pregnant, both your Daddy and your big brother felt you kick through my tummy for the first time. I have tried getting your daddy to feel for your kicks a few times, but it seemed that as soon as he put his hand on my belly, you calmed down and stopped kicking! Then on Thursday evening as we were watching The Apprentice, you were having a proper little wiggle and he managed to feel you move 4 times! It made Daddy want to talk to you more and I loved being able to share your special movements with him.

I thought it would be quite a while before Otis felt you kick and last night I wasn’t expecting him to react to your movements at all! We had just got home from London and it was about 11pm. He was cuddled up to me on the sofa after a long journey home and resting his head on my belly. I could feel you move on the other side, but then you kicked him right in the head (šŸ™ˆ) and he reacted by sitting bolt upright, babbling loudly and said ā€œthere!ā€ as he pointed to my tummy and the area where you had just kicked. He looked me straight in the eyes for a few seconds waiting for me to explain to him what just happened so I asked him ā€œdid the baby just kick you?ā€ and he said ā€œyes!ā€

I love that I can now share these magical moments with both your daddy and your big brother and they become even more of a part of our journey together!

Love you,

ā˜ļø Balloon Festival Vibes ā˜ļø

Most of you already know that every year we go to the huge balloon fiesta in August. We always have the absolute best time and I think that’s one of the reasons I just fell in love with this changing mat design from @thegilded_bird. I just think it’s absolutely gorgeous and it even comes in a white version too. @thegilded_bird design the most beautiful changing mats I’ve ever seen, you certainly won’t find anything close on the high street.

The changing mat here is in the blue ā€œballoon festivalā€ design and has the wedge shape which is designed specifically for anti-roll. The mat itself is very soft and springy and the cover can even be unzipped and removed.

This corner in the nursery is now being renamed to ā€œthe happy cornerā€ because I can’t help and smile when I look at it. I can’t wait to use this mat with Littlest Pea – who knew I’d be excited to change nappies?!

Baby’s it’s cold outside ā„ļø

Dear Littlest Pea,

Today was a tough day. I had my glucose test and after it started so well, it took a sudden turn as I almost passed out in the waiting area. I was terrified, not just because I was rapidly losing my sight and hearing, but because I was worried about you. You seemed to know this because despite my body giving up slightly, you were there kicking away the whole time. In fact you didn’t stop, you gave me constant reminders you were ok and we were in this together. Well that’s what I like to think; the midwives seemed to think you were just telling me you were hungry and were saying ā€œfeed me, Mummyā€!!šŸ™ˆ maybe they were right because when we finally made it to the end of the test and I had a packet of crisps, you stopped kicking!

It happened almost an hour into the test. I’d already had my bloods taken and drank the super sweet drink. We were doing great, sat in the waiting area as I was writing about our second trimester together in my pregnancy journal. Then all of a sudden I text your daddy to say I felt sick. Then in seconds I went clammy and dizzy. I kept blinking, but it was quickly getting worse so I said to a lady sat next to me ā€œexcuse me, I feel really dizzyā€. Bless her, she quickly ran for help even though she was pregnant too. Within seconds she returned with a midwife and when they got to me my hearing was almost gone and I could just hear echos. I could feel myself panicking thinking if I collapse, what if I fell on to you? How could I protect you if I fainted?

Thankfully they almost carried me to a bed and once I laid down my senses came back and you started kicking like you’ve never kicked before. I held my tummy tight, I wanted to tell you how sorry I was for having to put you through this with me, but also thank you for making sure I didn’t feel alone.

I’m now really anxious about getting the result back as I know if it is positive, that will change all my plans for your birth. But at the same time I know we will figure it out and one way or another, you will be in my arms soon enough!

Love you,

Mummy x

šŸŒSMOOTHIE TIME! šŸ‘

Well it’s safe to say that Otis definitely enjoyed his fruit smoothie today! Swipe to see just how much he loved it.

Otis has been lucky enough to be #gifted some reusable pouches from @twistshakebaby as part of an ongoing collanoration. These Squeeze Bags are environmentally friends because they are reusable as they have a resealable cap. The opening at the bottom (where you fill it) has a double ziplock to ensure no leaks. They come in two sizes: 100ml and 220ml so also ideal for meals during weaning too and they are dishwasher and freezer safe!

I actually love these pouches more than I thought I would šŸ™Š mostly because Otis always loves to eat fruit from a pouch and with these in the cupboard they encourage me to not only make my own and cut down on waste, but also think about what different fruit combinations I can make for him. Plus they are so much easier to use and wash than I originally thought too. Today we tested them out at home, but these are going to be perfect for all our travels and day trips out!

I think every little one should have a reusable pouch in their stocking this year, I promise they would love it! Plus they come in so many beautiful designs.

PRENATAL VITAMINS šŸ¤°šŸ»

When I’m pregnant, I’m more conscious about the food I eat and the daily intake of vitamins I need to ensure my baby grows healthily. This is why I put my trust in @pregnacareofficial because their tablets include the exact recommended intake of folic acid and vitamin D. The multivitamin also includes moderate iron and vitamins B6 and B12 to contribute to normal red blood cell formation.

We were lucky to be chosen by @officialemmasdiary to test these out and review them as part of the parent squad. We were gifted the Pregnacare Plus pack to review which includes additional omega-3 capsules too, which contribute to the normal development of my baby’s eyes and brain.

I have been taking these multivitamins for 2 weeks now and they have certainly given me the reassurance that my body (and baby) are getting the vitamins they need. I have found the tablets easy to take and as I know that they need to be taken on a full stomach, they have encouraged me to think more about mealtimes and not just snack! The tablets come with days printed on the back so it’s easy to keep track of your intake and it’s easy to tell if you are yet to take the pills set for today. I will definitely continue to take these vitamins during the rest of my pregnancy and also try out the breastfeeding ones after baby is born too!

🧹NESTING 🧺

Well the nesting instinct in pregnant me has decided to kick in this weekend (lets hope it’s here to stay!) Over the last two days I have dug out lots of baby clothes to freshly wash, reorganised and tidied the playroom and my sewing area and also helped the husband sort through and declutter his clothes. With the amount of clothes I have here for both Otis and Littlest Pea, I have been channelling my inner Snow White as I may as well be dressing 7 little ones with this amount!

I have been having serious nesting help with our starter pack from @sploshofficial (collaboration, gifted) which includes laundry powder, laundry detergent, toilet bowl cleaner, kitchen cleaner, washing up liquid, shower gel, hand wash and refill packs of bathroom cleaner and hand wash. šŸ’§

Plastic waste is messing up our oceans and littering our land. Every plastic bottle you buy in a supermarket makes the problem worse. By joining Splosh and refilling your bottles you are helping to make a real difference. šŸŒ

How it works:

1) you order your first set of bottles

2) when you run out you order refills online that fit through your letterbox

3) this dramatically cuts plastic waste!

You can even return your empty refill pouches for free so that they can be recycled and reused!

@sploshofficial only uses non toxic ingredients that biodegrade rapidly when back out in the environment. All products are vegan-friendly and not tested on animals.

So far I’m so impressed with our products I’m wondering why I spent so much money on unnecessary plastic waste for so many years! I think everyone should try out @sploshofficial and start making a difference today.

HOME SECURITY šŸ

I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that when I’m pregnant, I feel more vulnerable. I have anxieties and insecurities I don’t usually have to battle with and to top that off, the vivid dreams and nightmares that can come with pregnancy can be quite terrifying.

Because of this, I was so grateful to @ctronics_tech for helping me relieve my anxiety by gifting us this fab WIFI security camera as part of a collaboration. We have a very long drive that ends with an electric gate. From our house we are unable to see the gate and sometimes that can create feelings of insecurity. Thankfully now those feelings are gone!

This fantastic little camera was so easy to install. It is powered and charged by solar energy as well as USB cable and so we didn’t have to faff about with wires etc. It is equipped with various features that make us feel safe at home, including:

*HD video recording in full colour

*audio and intercom system

*130 degrees wide angle lens

*motion detection

*automatic night vision

*PIR sensor

and it’s also waterproof!

Live streaming can be accessed from an app on our phones which means we are able to check on our home when we are out for the day or away on holiday too.

I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone looking for a bit of extra home security

My lovely ā€œmama bearā€ jumper is kindly gifted by @bloomingjelly_alien as part of a collaboration. It’s super soft and cosy, just what I need right now! Also the sizing is so good that it fits lovely over my bump and it’s not even maternity which means I can wear it after baby is born too!

Happy Boy! šŸ˜€

After a terrible nights sleep last night, unfortunately we haven’t managed to make it to playgroup this morning. Instead Otis is playing with his awesome construction toy set from @funlukattoys that we were gifted as part of a collaboration.

He loves playing with this as the drill is interactive via batteries and also the screwdriver is great for his little hands. We have built some vehicles together but we also spelled out some words with the pieces which is great for helping him to recognise letters. There are 288 pieces, so we have been able to make 3 vehicles and still have plenty of pieces left to build more items. The set comes with clear and useful instructions with difficulty levels for 54 different models to build.

@funlukattoys are looking for some more testers for this item so send them a message if you fancy trying it out too!
